The mine was serviced by the Hibernia Mine Railroad for many years for transportation of its ore. However, by the time the mine reopened in 1953, the railroad was already abandoned and torn up and the ore was carried out by truck. The mine was finally closed permanently in 1956. The mine consisted of several shafts, open trenches, an adit and a mildly inclined slope. This slope, known as the "main hoisting incline", accesses the three working levels.

Inside the mine, men are loading ore cars with iron ore dropped from a chute above.
