The mine was worked sometime during the late 1800's and operations concluded in the early 1900's. Around 1920, a large stone wall was built just inside of the entrance to the mine with an iron door. It was used as an underground storage area for dynamite and powder by park officials. The mine continued to be used as an explosives store until sometime in the 1930's.

No information has surfaced regarding the ownership of the Cranberry Mine or the tonnage of ore produced.
