The mine was worked sometime during the late 1800's and operations concluded
in the early 1900's. Around 1920, a large stone wall was built just inside
of the entrance to the mine with an iron door. It was used as an underground
storage area for dynamite and powder by park officials. The mine continued
to be used as an explosives store until sometime in the 1930's.
No information has surfaced regarding the ownership of the Cranberry Mine
or the tonnage of ore produced.
