Dater's Exploration

The history of this iron mining prospect lives in obscurity. The mine was likely in operation in the mid 1800’s and possibly worked in conjunction with the nearby Dater Mine. The workings consist of a short adit, inclined slope, and two open trenches, one of which appears to be filled in naturally by earth erosion.

The operation seems exploratory in nature and was probably only worked briefly. The tailings contain a rich magnetite ore. Only one narrow shoot of ore was discovered by mine researchers.
