Green Mine

The Green Mine was first worked as early as 1853. The mine worked three deposits of magnetite ore from one to four feet in thickness. By 1863, the mine was worked to the southwest of three original openings on the site. The mine was not operating between 1868 and 1879. In 1869, the mine was acquired by the Thomas Iron Company and reopened in 1880 when it operated only briefly before reopening again in 1887. The mine was abandoned the next year.

The ore was shipped to the Wawayanda Furnace as was the nearby Wawayanda Mine. Today the mine consists of three principal shafts, two having been filled and the remains of a mule barn.
