The mine was reopened in 1911 by the High Ledge Mines Company and worked
until atleast 1912. The mine was modernized and was one of a handful of
New Jersey iron mines still in operation by this point.
At the foot of the hill, an adit has been driven to meet with an inclined
shaft. The adit provided partial drainage and served as a haulageway for
the shaft. Inside the tunnel, ties of the railroad are still in evidence.
It is reported that the High Ledge Mine produced approximately 2,000 tons
of ore.
This is a view looking out the entrance in 2001. The adit measures a
little more than 6 feet high and is 4 feet wide.
