Mercuria Mine

The Mercuria Mine was discovered in 1926 by Mr. William Reynolds who was previously involved with E.H. Bowman and the Sunflower Mine. Like the Sunflower Mine, the Mercuria Mine is part of an exclusive region containing mineralized mercury ore. The ore, in the form of cinnabar, was used in the amalgation of gold. Although now abandoned, the mine was in operation until some time after 1965.

The workings consist of a primary haulage adit, a minor secondary adit and a processing complex, now in ruins. It is not known how many flasks of mercury were produced.
