In 1942, the mine was rehabilitated by the government for use during World War II. The government then proceeded to tear down the original buildings and erect modern structures better equipped for the mining effort. The mine was dewatered and the main slope widened to accommodate dual mine cars.

Very little mining took place during this time and the mine was eventually allowed to fill back up with water. The World War II era mining complex was then abandoned and destroyed by fire in the 1960's.

The mine complex is pictured in 1947. In the far center is the new ore concentration building. The skipway leading to the main slope is to the left with an overhead walkway leading to the blacksmith shop front center.
