The vein was approximately 12 feet in thickness. About half the ore was rich and was sent directly to forges including Bunnell's Forge. The other half was lean and required concentration by blast furnace presumably at Cold Spring Foundry. The vein dipped 72 degrees northwest. A narrow gauge railroad was constructed from the mine to the larger West Point Railroad. The workings consisted of several adits, shafts and deep open trenches and was worked for a distance of 1,500 feet along the strike.
