all it is is an auto garage. alot of this stuff is so simple a bunch of wrenches, saws some electrical tools and a set of torches is all you need!

now its starting to look like something. got all the brackets installed for the center support wood beams, the side board stake pockets installed and one threaded rod that goes throught the car installed. i need to pick up another one. we can get that one in and the ends on and bumpers on and then we are just waiting on the saw mill to cut us our new pieces for the center of the car.

tonight was one productive night for us, we got pretty much the entire undercarriage built I guess all we pretty much have left to do is build the ends and bumpers, then bolt everything together, pretty cool, seems to be goin faster every time we stop in, before you know it we will be using it to lay track and the gravity slope!!!

they used wooden cars right up until the end of mining. wanamie was the last deep mine to operate in the northern field and those cars were totally all wood. no steel supports on the side, those were wood also. they were neat looking cars. they added extra planks around the top to make the capacity larger. think the miners got paid more...... nope! check out the wanamie page:

If that Wanamie Loco is still there it needs to be saved. From the pictures that would be an awesome loco to have around. Those pictures are from the 90's? any one have any updates on this? did it go to scrap or is it still sitting there?

it was scrapped in 2001. i only learned about this loco being there a year ago. we first found that site a month after they scrapped it in 01. if we knew we probably could have gotten it saved.

we are working on the flat car tomorow night and will get it almost complete. at least it will look pretty much done tomorow i think. we are also having the local newspaper for the town over do do a story on our project there and what we are doing these days. its a follow up story to the one they did last year.
