The Ohio Vintage Coal Co. team saves another piece of history. This could not have been done without our great team & the miners at the mine site. This Vulcan 4-ton gasoline locomotive was last used at the Buck Mountain Slope in the southern Anthracite field. Our group went through one of the most challenging moves to save this piece of equipment on a coal mine access road. At least we did not lose the truck & trailer but boy was it close. We brought the Vulcan Mine Locomotive back to our shop in Ohio & began to work on it immediately. We since have got the locomotive back in working condition. We are currently removing the axles to change the gauge from 44" ga back to 36"ga. Check out the Vulcan locomotive axles on our wheel press. We also have (2) movies on the link as well.

Thanks for bringing up the other ones actually. We just moved one to our restoration shop TODAY so we can pull the engine & bore the engine block for "new" hardened valve seats. We have all the new steel for the new cab we are going to fabricate. We decided to drop the axles & machine the wheels to get rid of the grooves. The other unit we are going to leave the way it is RUSTY & just repair the engine. We think that would be awesome to just run it the way it is.

Very good work guys! Great to see a piece of machinery like that come back to life. Now the movie, that looks like pre-regauging? Did the loco run before you tore the engine apart, or you tore the engine apart before regauging it?

I see though you were having a little problems driving it straight..

Greg we got the engine working first before we removed the axles for the regauging.
