well guys, the ohio boys were in town again and were able to relocate the mucker for us so we can work on it more often. it was sitting in the parking lot at pioneer and we were not going to use it this year as thought and not sure if they are going to do the project we intended for it next year so, we took it a bit closer so we can work on it and run it more. yesterday it was moved to the no.9 mine in lansford where mike a. banks, adam and i will do most of the work on it. mike works there on weekends and when not giving tours can put some time in on this in the shop. they already have a compressor there with the necessary fittings so all we need to do is hook it up and see how it runs! we need to make new cables for it and the airhose intake fitting is broke off in the water seperator. we really need to just go over it, sand blast it and paint it with those few things to do. in the next few weeks we are going to get the broken fitting out, install a new one and fire it up..... hope it works! so, when pete and mike dropped it off yesterday of course we had to push it in the mine! this is our first piece of equipment owned by us that has made its way underground again! i hoped it was going to be our locomotive but this will do

pics moved over to the photos section.

I saw one sitting at Pioneer in Ashland when I was up there in August, I think it was.
Is that the same one?

yes thats the same one. we moved it from there cause they have a compressor at no. 9 to run it and its closer for us to work on it. plus mike a. works there on the weekends all year round. we will contract it out to who ever needs it when we get it done. we have a little project to work with at no.9 and when we blow that rock tunnel at pioneer we will take it there.

when we get it up and running in a few weeks we will definatly have a video to post!

Chris I started a photo section on this topic you might want to move your pictures there.

Nice work guys :!: Nice to see a great piece of coal history saved & under restoration. The interesting part about these machines is that they were primarily used in metal mines to drive the rock tunnels. These machines were all acquired second hand from Canada & utilized to drive rock tunnels in the southern Anthracite field. These machines make driving a rock tunnel a life saver.

so the ugm mucker lives :!: got it out of the barn today with some attached air fittings, unrolled the hose and after we found out how to run the compressor we were in business! checked the oil in the gearboxes, the driving gearbox was low. pushed it to the opening of the mine and hooked up to the air line. pressurized the motor, engaged the gearboxes and hopped on. pushed the handle forward and away it went. not very fast because we are running directly off the compressor with no tank, and there is a pretty good hole in the air line that someone ran over with a lawn mower! but regardless it ran on the first shot with minimal work, we are getting lucky with this stuff! we lifted the bucket a bit but only a few inches as the cables that it rolls on are being built for us and are off the machine. when i pushed the bucket lift control, this milky, watery, greasy, junk blasted out of the exhaust like it puked, then it started to lift. this thing sounds like a steam engine when the elevating motor is running. cant wait for the ohio guys to finnish the cables so we can run that part of the machine....... (hear that guys) anyways, check the pics and video. the videos are small file size so even you dial up people out there can watch them!
