The pictures are sad looking. When looking at the pulled up ties, it almost looks like I'm looking at the old pictures from when one time famous railroads are being pulled up. While your pulling it up, at least it is going back down 20 feet over!

adam and i are laying down the new track bed tomorrow. its going to be about 95 degrees out so we will probably spike down 3 or 4 ties, jump in the pool, spike down 3 or 4 ties, rinse and repeat  so anyways we hope to get a few hundred feet laid tomorrow, we will see how that goes.............. :?

well i dont remember laying rail being that much work  although last time it was just put down temporarily spiking every other sill and predrilling them. now we did it legit. dug the ties down so they are flush with the ground and spiked every one. man we got down a little under 60 feet in 4 hours. in the middle we got this pretty wicked thunder storm, rain, lightning, wind its all good. we were hot so we kept working right through. good stuff, heading back on monday to continue. if anyone wants to help we wont turn you away :?

so, just got back from ohio, and am ready to continue with the track project. after this coming week we should go full tilt and hope to get all the rail down by mid august. with the help of mike a's hudson coal's track standards book the switch should be no problem to engineer. we are ready to lay that down i just need to get the ties (sills) picked up from the saw mill. i had to get more cut cause the switch sills need to be longer to accommodate both sets up to the frog. so, we will be good to go after that. looking forward to getting the rail down and running the motor.

ok, here's the plan of the switch we are going to install. works perfect cause its set up for 30-40lb rail. this is a low traffic chamber switch. this is taken from "Instructions and Standards for Track Work, The Hudson Coal Co."

Looks good.. Except, will your frog and points fit this dimension switch off? If not, you might be on your own with this..
