I'm headed to Tennessee Saturday morning to pick up an odd mine car. My only guess is that it was used to haul sections of rail into the mine. I'll post pictures when I get back.

The guy i got this from said he thought it was used to haul coal augers. My theory is it hauled sections of rail. Any other ideas? It's about 7ft long and about 28" wide. It is 21" gauge.
I wish I had known about this place a year ago. I could've saved (3) wood coal cars, a few augers and some rail but unfortunately it was all scrapped.

I have the remains of a car with wheel bearings something like that.
Seems odd to separate rails like that, and that would be a LOT of drills if it was loaded up

Either of those are just theories. I agree that it would be a lot of augers. Maybe instead of length wise, something was stacked between the uprights but the question is what?

Could it have been used to carry ties or timbers?

The slats are too close together for timbers. Welcome to the forum.

I've been here before. Miner Dave. I set a wrong email address when I tried to switch over. (@google.com instead of the correct @gmail.com)

Looks like a rack car from a brick plant.

Howdy Dave, wondered what happened to you.

Mike, can you tell me a little more about your brick car theory?

It is almost a perfect match.

I think you are right mike. Were these cars just used to move bricks around the yard? It's funny that this thing came from an old coal yard where there was a lot of other mining stuff.

It also looks like a car that would be used in a large lumber mill to transfer the cut boards to the drying stacks.
