well guys the restoration season is almost here so we figured we would let you in on a few of our projects. the first we will be doing is the UGM Coal Co mine car. (see post on that in this forum) we will also be rebuilding the only original mine car left from the 190 slope(lackawanna mine tour) this mine car is still up at the mine and we have to pick it up yet. it is the only car left from when the mine was in operation as the last coal producing mine to close in the northern anthracite field. if time permits and conditions are right, we are also going to build a 42" gauge replica of a glen alden mine car used at the huber colliery. we have the wheels, axles, journal boxes and some metal parts to complete that car also. This will be mike a's car and will go on display at a to be disclosed location. the 190 car will also go on display, not at our facility but at the 190 slope for all to see. we are not sure yet if we are going to put it in the mine, or on display out by the parking lot. time will tell. after those are complete we will begin work on the franklin colliery mine car. we will see how much gets done before summer arrives

Very good, I'm excited to see the progress on these.

It almost sounded like you were going to put a third rail on the UGM facility track layout to run that 42" car.

no, our ties are too short, we could lay a third rail of 30" if we want but not 42.

Well if a third rail did appear there would be no excuse not to get a 42" motor,or a 30"motor, not that there is one anyway!

For anyone who doesn't know, those two are the motors currently used by UGM Coal Co. at the UGM #1 shaft. 8)

at least it appears the "head mechanic" is keeping up with oiling the trolley pole base.
