I think some of the coal guys on the forum will be proud. Here is one of the new projects I have ventured into. You might be able to consider this a byproduct mining project. In any event, I have ventured into some new territory here to both keep the house warm and keep it there at the most cost efficient price. I've done a lot of research on this and came up with pretty good setup. While the project is partially complete, I am posting up progress photos on the job.

The boiler is a Leisure Line 220K (220 BTU) dual burner Stroker Boiler. It has two 110,000 BTU burners on it which with both enabled, will give you full 220,000 BTU for when the temperature warrants it. As my house has a decent number of square feet and I eventually want to build a new garage which I will put heat in, I went with the larger boiler. It holds 42 gallons of water and has a 320 pound hopper on it for holding Anthracite coal. As it has a hopper, it feeds in the coal as it needs it to provide an almost oil like on / off capability to heat the house when there is a call for heat. More information is available on http://leisurelinestoves.com/boiler-and ... ducts.html

This is the pressure vessel. Weights almost 700 pounds, where the water is heated and stored.

This is the base where the whole unit will sit. This is near the final resting place.

These are the burners for the boiler. As for Anthracite to burn properly, air must be fed from underneath the lit coal bed, these blow the air to keep the fire lit.

To conserve existing mining methods, coal (even if bagged) must be properly chuted.
