A mountain bike ride from New Paltz, through Rosendale / Snyder mine area, into what was known as Binnewater and the F.O. Norton / Consolidated Complex.

Crossing over the North flowing Wallkill River, a pic from the trestle.
Image

Arriving in Southern Rosendale, a pic of the rail coming from the flooded Snyder East mine adit to the top on the East kilns.
Image

Across the Rail Trail a two portal limestone kiln of much shorter stature.
Image

The fire brick inside the kilns is still in very good condition.

Tailings or perhaps ore residue from an accident on the way to the furnace.

Slag or limestone and potash after firing from the kilns.

The mine, now flooded, that fed the Snyder West Kilns, note the angle of the strata.

Continuing up Binnewater Road towards the old Williams Lake Resort these mines were found on the East side of the Rail Trail. The may have fed the multiple kilns at the Iron Mountain Facility.

This was the F.O. Norton Company Store and Boarding House, nicely restored.

Just past the store were the remains of the FOW Kilns.

Now .... I appreciate your patience.

I don't know the proper name of this mine, but I've heard it called the "Cathedral Cave". A misnomer because it's a limestone mine.

The Adit.

From the inside, looking out the adit.

NICE ICE!
Looked Like smoke!

Another ice pedestal back-dropped by the wreckage of a car. Cars littered the inside of this mine, as i guess in years past people crashed them into pillars.

Hi. You have some great pictures which I am no longer able to view. I've been able to locate many of the kingston/rosendale mines along the rail trail & behind the Snyder estate but I've specifically been trying to find the one with the old cars in it that you have a picture of. Would you be willing to share the location of that cave? Please & thank you.
