the old ewen site (do believe i spelt it wrong) which was not far away from the knox mine area is now being constructed on, they tore all the woods down there was a few mine related building and they tore them down whats interesting is that there was a slope, which i have pics of that had beautiful stone work all around it, it was blasted in when it closed it looks like but maybe we should peck around at the site to see if they uncovered any cool stuff before its gone forever (another northern field site gone).

the ewen colliery was the sister colliery to the underwood. i have a picture of the breaker somewhere it was almost identical to the underwood. thats where the coal from the river slope was processed (knox mine). the knox coal co leased the river slope off of the pa coal co who operated the ewen colliery.
