Well we ventured into an active mine (end of December2006) this time with an additional crew member(he is great!). We went to the mine office 1st thing in the morning & received our safety training so that we could get our MSHA papers. Off we went! This mine is going through a major change. They just installed a "NEW" prep plant & are currently installing a 5 mile overland conveyor & a new slope. The mine already has a drift opening so this will be a change since most mines in the area are drift openings.

We then met with one of the locomotive repair miners. One of them took one of the 50 ton jeffrey down to the portal & back for us. It had about 1-1/2 mile of track from the supply yard to the portals. Check out the pics & vids!!
