People are sooo afraid of change that they cant see the benefit of things like this. I dont see how it could possibly lower property values. Another historic site like that, fixed up, would make the town even prettier and more desirable place to live. That drives property values UP! Also, they complain about more people bringing more pollution. If the rail line is taken care of, however, then i'm sure the Park Service would make an effort to keep it clean...................Just a guess, but right now theres probably trash, motors, junk cars - anything and everything - laying along that old line, just like every other abandoned rail line in this area.

Do we have anyone from Jim Thorpe on the forum? What are your views?

Anyone else?

It's the "Not in MY back yard!" syndrome.
I agree rebuilding this would make the town more desirable to even visit, and bring in more revenue.
You know what I'm tired of in MY back yard? HOUSING DEVELOPMENTS.

This is really surprising to hear this perspective from a town such as.... Jim Thorpe. Why exactly are they living in this historic town if they can't appreciate its own rich history? I would move to Jim Thorpe to have this railroad put back in service! :D It is amazing sometimes how different people can think.

Jim Thorpe is only known today for it's history. It is a historic town. Bringing back more history to the town will only increase property values and bring more money into the city. It is crazy that people would oppose this.
