This perspective by UGMiner Banks really has my curiosity going considering this is hometown for me, maybe I'd like the new underground Mt. Carmel better

we have sent the images to harmony to review before we post them up. hopefully soon we will have them up on the ugm site. harmony is really a huge operation, i would like to go back when they get the internal slope completed and a few lifts off of it so they will be working it with continuous miners in the flat pitch and traditional pitch workings by hand in off of the slope. they are continuing the slope until it picks up enough pitch to facilitate coal running down the chutes by itself (over 40 degrees). when we were taken down the slope to the face of it, they were about 300 feet down, and a 20 degree incline.

Fascinating, because this is a very low key / visibility operation I live about 8 blocks from the gates and for me and most of the towns people we don't even think about them or notice much activity around the area with the exception of the slight buzz of the ventilation fans at night and that’s not even every night

yea, thats one of the good things they have going for them, they are up on the hill where the coal is flat. for some reason the vein didnt outcrop on the side of the hill but "humped", if you will, over the top. they are mining here. then sinking the slope on the side of the hill back towards the opening.
