I was driving along the Schuykill Expressway (which is in NO way an express, but I digress) when I saw this sign.

So, I did what any sane commuter in Philly bumper to bumper traffic would do to entertain herself.... no, I didn't reapply my lipstick! I took a picture (or two) to share with y'all.

Is this a new thing or is it just new to me?

I'm gonna go check out the website listed on the billboard now.

I know fast eddie has been a coal supporter, but I've never seen those signs.
I think eddie is supporting the bitty coal too.

Great find T!

oh there's a bunch around the southwestern part of the state. i was tempted to take pictures of them too, but i would have had to stop and back up, because there's no stopped traffic like on the schuylkill expressway. and after the tenth one the novelty wore off, so i didn't bother

interesting though, i'm not sure who they're trying to convince, and why they need convincing. i imagine most people who buy electricity don't have any idea where the energy they're buying comes from and i don't think that they care-unless it's not working.

the "clean coal" thing is a bit of a myth-as long as something is burning, it's releasing CO2 and that's the issue everyone's fired up about. with enough "technology" they can take out the sulfur and mercury, etc but it still produces CO2 and there's no "technology" to take care of that.

They've been trying to push the "clean coal" technology for a while now, but it's getting stronger with the elections and oil prices coming up. They want to build the first plant for it in Schuylkill County. If you go on youtube and search "hard coal" (the trailer for the Hard Coal movie) Governor Rendell and some other dude are talking about it in there.

Actually the can take care of the co2 by burying it. Coal is the fuel of the future and Anthracite isn't going to be left behind this time! Just ask any stoker manufacturer and they will all tell you the same thing, there selling more now than they have in years.
