I remember the first year they opened the mine museum in the park. It was really nice. Now the past 3-4 years they have the back section all ripped up and it looks like crap. Piles of mining related items on tables sectioned off from the public. Are they ever going to fix it? Another real shame is they had a bunch of news paper clippings that are all but unreadable from everyone handling them! I may get an ear full but I think the UGM/Pioneer Tunnel/No. 9/etc. should get together and fix this museum and advertise themselves!!!

Seems like Knoebels are more interested selling gem stones from the glass case then showing what the museum is really about.

I am glad they have it but they have left it go and just breaks my heart to see it that way when I know it could be over the top great! They get alot of traffic walkin into that museum. They also could use more videos old and current!

It's a shame because they had a really nice museum. That park is really a gem though, between the steam engines and the sawmill and stuff. Hopefully they will get the mining museum back in order again.

I'll have to agree that the museum needs some major help. I mean, even the Glen Burn cars outside have crappy caution tape around them with a "no climbing" sign on them. I mean, the inside of them have garbage thrown in them and all. Its sad. After working for so many years there its one of the few things I don't like about Knoebels.

I went yesterday and they have a pile of old accident records in there from the 1910's that anyone can pick up and they are in no order at all.

The machine you call a rail bender is at ashland's pioneer coal mine.....
I was told it was a machine to shift tracks infront of a railroad-type steam shovel? I don't know......also missing from Knobbels is the barrel stave mill anyone know where it went?

Dick would probably let you if you show interest in mining and helping preserve them. I know exactly what you are talking about, its like the mantrip outside. One of these days when I bump into Dick I'm going to ask him if I can come in on a Sunday and clean it up.
