I was there the other day and in front of the smaller building (with the Blue Coal graphic on it) there is a deep pit dug out, maybe 50 feet deep. There are huge piles of dirt there as well that they dug out, it looks weird. I should have thought to take a picture of it but I was too busy trying to think what hell the hole was for.

lookin for coal to strip. its a political game now. if theres mineable coal there, which there is, it makes the property value higher. unfortunately, or fortunately, depending on how you view it, you cant mine the coal because you cant blast that close to the houses or rr tracks. so it appears the breaker is safe...... for now.

Oh that was the first thing I thought of, but then I thought nah why would they dig for coal here if the breaker is supposed to be saved. all about $$$ I see, no big surprise.

That place is in sad shape and walking on any of the stairways makes me feel uneasy, so I usually stick to the lower levels.

I agree, when I was walking around inside, as well as adventuring to the top, the walkways were making me abit nervous. I met a local who showed me some sturdy walkways but I was still abit nervous.

We made our way to the top, took some great photos.

Whats the deal with this now? Who owns the breaker property? I had thought this was a done deal with the town purchasing the property.

Eminent Domain proceedings have begun on it. They just have to hammer out a price now and the county owns it.

That is good news hopefully. It would be great to see Huber saved. It just sounds like it is going to cost the town more and more. We'll have to see what happens with this.

When I went there, I went to the office you see as you walk in. I said I wanted to take some photos of the area and said I wouldn't go inside. The lady didn't have a problem with it.

I dont know if things changed since then, I was there abit of time ago.
