There isnt a push to save the st nick because since its in an area where mining is an evident part of the fabric of the area, it dosent have the nostalga factor the huber has, which pretty much stands alone in the northern field a a remonder of days gone by. If the Huber was in skulkyll cty it too would probally be just another decaying industrial building, or long since torn down by now.

thats a good point brian, the huber is besides the st nick the last of the "super breakers". because of its location the huber would be a better canditate for restoration even though the st nick is in better overall shape. but thats my northern field biased opinion..... :wink:

I share the same biased opinion, being a northern field (wilkes barre) native and resident as well. But that is what i like about Mahanoy city, it is what this area must have been like in many ways circa 1945, and since i wasnt born untill 1976 I never got to experiance.

well ive never been to the huber, although id like to. I did write two letters to state/federal reps. about saving st nick and pretty much got put off.
