Hi,

The new issue of Railpace magazine claims there some new anthracite shippers on the R&N coming. Mentioned is a Jeddo Coal operation ion Tresckow currently operating, plus a revived New St. Nick operation, a new operation in Tamaque and an LC&N operation in Coaldale.

The last one is of great interest. It will require reactiving the Lehigh & New England trackage east of Greenwood. I always hoped someday that line would be put back in service as far as Lansford so there could be excoursion trains from the #9.

Little known fact, but George M. Hart who ran the steam train at Jim Thorpe had attempted in the 1990's to reopen the Hauto tunnel to run his train from JT to the #9 and into Tamaqua. When the east end of the tunnel collapsed under the highway, George's plan ended.

They allready started working on the track down near the Lehigh and New England frieght station in Lansford. Also BM&R is rebuilding the track down by Jeddo#7 to handle cars of Anthrafine for a cogen plant.

that tunnels cool but its got a lot of water in it because of that rock fall at the end.... theres small timbered mine workings going right out the ribs of the tunnel into the coal veins
