 Post subject: Abandon RR tunnel

Does anybody know ,or have any pics, of the old trian tunnel under alden mountian? i never saw it...but people, including chris, have told me its there, i just would like to know more about it and what it looks like

yea its for the old wilkesbarre hazleton electric railway. one end is collapsed where they built 81 right under 81, but you can get to the other end off the nuangola (sp) exit on 81

i also heard the same. never been there but heard theres 3 pretty nasty rock falls. the factoryville tunnels are much nicer. no falls and perfect rock. plus it was never used during the diesel era so theres still soot on the top from the steam engines!l

I am a trolley fan esp when pertaining to local streetcar lines, if I can get directions Id appriciate it, also to sillmans shaft, or any other remaining headframes I want to take pics for my collection of black & white photos of colliery rements etc
