A subsidence measuring 10 ft. wide and 25 feet deep opened on East Locust Street, in West Scranton. This is near the new Wal Mart site. The area was flushed in the 1980's as part of the south Sixth Avenue project. The Dodge /Baker colliery mined the area in the 1920's. The four foot vein may outcrop near this site. As it did under the Wal Mart site.
