Progress!!! The last remaining Glen Alden coal company fan house in Lackawanna county is in the process of being demolished. The fan is currently laying in the middle of the field, and the semi buried fan house is broken open where the fan used to be ( fan house is shaped like a upside down L ) Constructed in 1907-1909 this fan hose had two shafts. One to the four foot vein ( see Diamond drift pics & flushing pics) the other served the No 2 shaft itself. This leaves the Gravity fan house in Archabald, and the Dickson fan house in the Green Ridge section of Scranton ( Marvin No 2. ?) ( both Hudson coal company) as the last remaining fan houses in Lackawanna county. A comerce park s to be constructed on the land ( office park) To think 100's of these fan houses dotted Lackawanna county alone.
