Chris, I may be wrong here but it appears to me that most if not all of the UGM projects such as mine explorations, the man trip car, coal car, flat car, and whitcomb locomotive restorations coupled with the recent mucker purchase and the Gravity Slope land purchase are funded by you personally, perhaps in conjunction with other members of the UGM team. The additional cost of equipment used to explore, photograph, and video tape these endeavors along with Web page management of a truly outstanding and educational site must involve considerable costs. While I realize that this is a “labor of love”, you and the others are to be commended for your outstanding contributions to our Anthracite Mining Heritage. I look forward to your upcoming video. Thank You!

you are correct. we have been helped out in a few ways though. we have the ohio boys to thank for the transportation of the mantrip car. matt pompey to thank for the shop to work in and some funding for the motor, and a few friends from work who helped out along the way with other transportation needs. but youre correct the rest has been done out of our own pocket. we really enjoy it, i guess you can tell! as for these muckers, i didnt want to wait for ashland to try to come up with the money, they might have been scrapped or sold to someone else. and we spent the weekends shoveling the muck, rock and old wood out of the gangway at pioneer, this will eliminate that next year!

Yeah, mine research and restoration is a labor of love. A lot of cost and effort goes into it, but the return is always pleasurable. A feeling of accomplishment and the ability to share it with others.
