sometimes you could find it in antique shops, but make sure the carbide is still in rock form, if it look like powder then it went bad.... as for new carbide you could get it from Karst Sports online its kinds expensive i think its around $80 for 10 pounds, because of the hazmat shipping.

you can buy calcium carbide here in smaller amounts. look under the "chemicls and metals" section. they also sell alot of other fun to play with chemicals.
