Went past on Rt 209 today and looked up at the mine. Looks like they took the conveyer down that you could see from the road. Anyone have any info as to what they are planning to do with the mine? Looks like they put alot of work and money into it and from what I heard they had large orders for coal? Did that all go by the way side? I know the last discussion said they were going to go back to conventional mining practices?

Hi Aaron,

I haven't been following closely but if this other thread is up to date, it appears that the mine closed because they were stubbornly using bituminous technology such as continuous miners to mine steeply pitched anthracite coal and were unsuccessful. But if there is any more recent developments outside this thread, I'd be interested to know.
