I saw on google earth and bing that there is still a breaker standing around coaldale. Does anyone know if it was for underground mines or surface, company name, what mine? Also what happend to the coaldale tunnel? Was it stripped away or what?

Lehigh Coal and Navigation greenwood breaker. still active they are stripping out from there to lansford. not too far from no.9. coaldale no.8 and no.7 tunnel portals are still there and visible from 209. one is backfilled and one has a steel door on it. there is a shaft up at the greenwood breaker with headframe and hoist house, as well as another (the no.14 shaft) between there and coaldale. if youre good you can see that from the road as well.

could you PM me that message plus any other details of the area thatd be cool to see? for some reason my computer insists on printing out theENTIRE forum whenever i print right from the forum. I saw the stripping pit on bing it looks like on one highwall it was intersected a lot of tunnels, is this the case or are my eyes deceiving me?

ok, so i found the no. 7&8 tunnels, but the breaker i found is NOT the greenwood. The breaker i found is due north of the no.8 tunnel. Anyone know anything about it?

Yeah I forget which one thats is exactly but LC&N maintains the AMD treatment plant next to it. It might be the #12 breaker

What era is this breaker from? Going by the Google image, it seems relatively modern - post 1960?
