 Post subject: Tracked mantrips in use in the midwest and west

Are there any mines in Indiana, illnoia, or out west west that use track mounted equipment underground, or is it all rubbered tyred?

That's a real broad question. Continuous Miners are usually tracked. Shuttles, Scoops and Mantrips are usually tired.

Actually Doug. Cm miners have Cats. They pin together. Tracks bolt together. Feeders have tracks.

NO, when I mean tracked I mean do the man trips run on rails out west and in Illnoia and Indiana?

I see. As far as Indiana/Illinois I would say no. I'm certain none of the current Indiana mines use rail. And I pretty sure for Illinois. The mines in the Illinois Basin ( Indiana, Illinois and Western Ky ) are deep and the coal rarely outcrops in any significantly amounts. The entries are most often shaft or a very steep ( 10 degree) slope to the vein. Veins are typically 300 deep in Indiana and W. Ky to 900+ feet in the Fairfield Trench in Southern Ill.
