How do I access the Old WB&H railroad tunnel near Warrior Run? I've been up in the Truesdale Terrace section a few time, with no luck finding it..

Im just currious as to which side is sealed up. The side as your looking at I-81 SB from the Warrior Run/ Hanover Twp Side, or the other side as if your looking at I-81NB from Rice Twp... That would make it a easier to find, better yet would be someone who knows the trail to take, or is willing to take me to see it first hand...

All answers here

These directions are given if you are coming from Scranton. S81 to exit 159 (Nuangola), turn left at end of ramp and get back on N81. Speed limit is 65MPH with two 55 MPH signs coming up within 5 minutes (these have the orange diamonds on the top) At the second sign park, there is ample room to get away from traffic. Once out of vehicle, looking back towards on-coming traffic, you will see the guide rail taper to the ground. Walk towards and on the left of it, you will see a ATV path coming from your left, follow the path down NOT BACK UP THE HILL. At the High Voltage pole-line turn left and follow the pole-line for about 5 minutes until it "Y" into the old railroad bed. Continue to the left on the bed till you see the opening.

This is the South side as coming from Scranton, the North side is under S81 with a drain pipe for water drainage. Don't worry about the cave-in near the end, it's safe. just walk up and then down the other side of it, this will make more sense once you are in there. You will need waterproof boots up to your knees and careful, the clay on the cave-in it slippery!!

Here's a pic of the drainpipe:

Have fun!!
