While workman were building foundations for a new building at the University of Scranton - Linden and Monroe streets they dug into a chamber. The article stated workman were able to explore for a few blocks, and then some. This led to flushing of the area.

I doubt there were any pictures. Unless Christian happened to be there.

Speaking of Christian, anyone heard from him lately?

It is funny how I somehow started a conversation on a post that was 2 years old!

I've got some questions about this. First of all, what did they mean by the "flushing of the area"? Were there raccoons in the abandoned mine that had to be "flushed out"? :)

Also, what "article" was this from? The text in the title stated "50 yrs ago in Scranton" but it is unclear to me whether the article was 50 years old, the construction of the new building was 50 years old or the mine was 50 years old.

Regards,
Fred M. Cain
