nice, i considered getting one of these, but my wheat lamp has some sentimental value and it has been on a ton of great trips. so for now i want to keep what i have. when the battery says its time to replace me maybe ill get one of these light weight ones.

I've heard from two different sources now that these lamps have a tendency to simply shut off every now and again for no apparent reason, stay off for a few minutes, then turn back on again like nothing happened. I have no idea why, nor did the guys who had the problem, but I guess it's happened (Leaving them in the dark). oh wellllll........

The lithium Ion battery should theoretically last a lot longer on a single charge and be a lot smaller, but it will not take the abuse that a lead acid batter will be able to put out. Lithium Ion batteries generally are suppose to last 1000 charges and have a life of a few years before they go bad. The lead acid batteries can last a lot longer as we have seen.

yea adam made me aware of the build date on the back of the battery so i looked at mine. it was made in 00 and as of my last burn test it was still burning strong after 11 hours....... thats impressive, i dont even put distilled water in it like you are supposed to, just pour it in from the tap! must be the good amd water we have here in the northern field  anyways i got a new battery coming so im going to put this battery on my back up wheat lamp, and give that battery to banksey for his msa mine spot. they will fit and the original batteries for them are pure junk.

My battery was built in 9- 05 and after using it at pioneer for some of the day yesterday I turned it on at 7:00pm and when I woke up this morning at 9;00am it was still burning, but a little orange. I would have to say that I can trust my lead acid battery, and like everyone else said, I too have heard good and bad about the lithium ion ones..... But I still really want one!
