The TV show "Mysteries at the Museum" on the Travel Channel has a segment on Centralia. They also show the Anthracite Heritage Museum. It's season 2, episode 13.

I just saw it last night. Did you know that a company in Texas thinks that it could put out the fire! You should check it out.

I thought they already had a company lined up to put it out. just waiting for some last holdouts to die off and they were going to start stripping the entire area, mining the coal and putting the fire out at the same time? I don't hear much up here though.

The fire is too deep to mine it out like other fires. The Texas company has a biodegradable foam that they can pump into the mine. Once in the mine, the foam will expand, cutting off the air to the fire, which will in turn put it out. The foam will then dissolve, leaving any mineable coal intact, unlike digging out the fire.
