Most interesting. I think Fred will like the video. Am I right that normal rail operations are something like a local freight on a standard gauge railroad, where it picks up loads and deposits empties where they are needed?

BN(SF) tried, may still be using, a similar idea called a trough-train. Looks like this outfit has combined that idea with rollercoaster tech and mated it with a robot.

I think the trough train is out of service now. They are now all unit trains with Coal gons. There was a similar thing with 20 ft iron ore jennies that was a little more successful. They tied four together with drawbars and called them "Miniquads." I think some are still in service on the CN after they bought DM&IR.
