It's what happens as one gets older, it is called priorities. The realization that you can't do everything and something has to fall behind.

Tours ?

Missed 190
Got the unofficial tour of No 9
Pioneer was a neat mine.,

Rabbit Hole Coal was a neat tour after you get past the entry.
as was that other mine farther south and the other tour in Scranton, too.

I guess I've always had great tour guides. :D :D

Same here, but in Washington DC. We went to the the new Air & Space museum at Dulles airport, and our tour guide was an old WWII fighter pilot. At the end of the tour, which was supposed to be 30 minutes, but lasted 1 hour, 30 min., we ( the family) were the only people left following him. He was a wealth of knowledge. When he was young, his dad took him up to the first class section of an airplane they were on to meet a pilot. The man said "If you ever want to be a pilot, learn your arithmetic." The pilot's name was Lindbergh. He also met James Doolittle, but he couldn't remember it. He was also on the phone with a friend of his in the Pentagon on 9/11. He said they were talking, and all of a sudden the phone went dead. Like I said, he was a wealth of information and stories. For example, the image of the WWI pilot, hard drinking with a crisp white scarf, was based on necessity. Back then, planes didn't use gasoline, they ran on castor oil. Apparently, the fumes had the same effect as drinking castor oil itself. (Castor oil makes you shit) They found out that a shot of hard French whiskey delayed the effects for about a half hour, adn wrapping a scarf around your nose and mouth would delay the effects for about an hour. So the WWI pilots image was all so they wouldn't shit their pants!

That might be enough incentive to make a trip.

Well, David here is an aviation fan too! Nice story about your DC visit, interesting stuff. I think you earned yourself some "Roundeye Coal and Patio Heat Co." cap stickers, what do you think guys? PM me your mailing address, I'll send you some.

Johnr- The shuttle that I saw was the Enterprise. My favorite part was the when you walked in and saw the P-40
warhawk in full AVG paint with the shark mouth looking like it was about to swallw you whole. My other favorite part was the space wing. I loved Robert Goddard's rocket, he is one of my idols, and the mother-ship from Close Encounters of a Third Kind. We are a big movie watching family, so we have seen the movie many times. We were surprised to see that the ship was made out of HO (1:87) train parts. My dad and I model railroad in HO so we recognized many of the parts used on the ship. I loved the entire museum. I just wish that the American History Museum was open when we were there. I would have loved to see the locomotive decked out in full Southern livery. We did see "Jim Henson's World" where we saw Kermit(!) and Ernie (with his rubber ducky)!

50% is impressive until you see there has only been 6 votes.

Which is the basis for the saying:

Lies! Lies!! and Statistics

Just got the cap stickers! I think that I might scan one and digitally reduce it to 1:87 (HO) scale, and prind out a bunch of decals to put on some 55 ton hoppers that I have that are undecorated. What do you think?
