there was a mass extinction of the dinosaurs correct? and isnt there a quarter sized layer of iridium or something named similar to that located everywhere on earth in the rock from that period?the element came from the asteroid that apparently struck earth and coated the entire surface of the earth with the dust. would it be visible somehow in the mines?

im not sure when anthracite was formed in relation to the dinosaurs, as no dinosaur bones or fossils were ever found in a mine. however i have heard of the iridium in the soil and rock near dinosaur fossils.

at 128 million years ago, I believe anthracite is actually older by 200 -300 million years.

Anthracite was formed during the Pennsylvanian epoch between 300 to 325 million years ago. the oldest coal seams are the Lykens valley seams(very thin) then the buck mt-7foot-skidmore-mammouth-primrose-orchard-diamond... and then it fades into thin lesser known seams. The mass extinction of the dinosaurs was about 65 million years ago.
