Location: Ranshaw
Split Vein Coal Co., near Shamokin, caught fire around 6am today and burned to the ground.

Split Vein is also in the middle of a legal battle with Gilberton Coal over 1.1 million tons of coal refuse where the Excelsior Mulch Fire is. Split Vein also filed for bankruptcy in 2003.

just uploaded some pics from our local news page. wow, she really burned bad. i havent seen a breaker fire like this yet! this is like one you hear stories of and see old pics of!
