Took some buddies of mine up to the mine fire tonight, and apparently they're done working for a while. The dump trucks and 1 excavater are gone. The second excavator is on the hill visible from the highway. You pass it climbing up the hill after the turn-back. They piled dirt and culm up so that no one can drive down the access road they were doing the new work from - which was a good thing. The ground is now glowing in places on that road. Last time Chris and I were there (a week ago) cracks were forming in the road. Now they're glowing orange. We also saw it glowing orange on the outside of the brand new trench.......which means they're going to have to extend it or make another trench. It's really going nutz up there..........

they're done working because the trench now has to cross the path which means they have to take apart that cliffside... dybamite.. euclids... tri-axles and 2 backhoes arent going to cut it

So in other words, the fire has spread too deep underground and past where would normally have been diggable? If thats what your saying, that ain't good..... Should have found the money when the fire was small...

Chris, I was up there with Mecca and the fire is literally right next to the sewer line. There is a manhole, a foot of ground next to it, the pile at the edge of the trench, and then the fire in the trench. It's REALLY close. I didn't see the cracks in the road or the glowing, but I'm gonna see if Mecca wants to take a ride up tonight to check it out.

We went up last night. Mecca was taking some pics and as we were standing there, a pile of garbage and brush went up in flames inside the one pit. Those pipes on the opposite side of the road that have the monitors in them have smoke and heat coming out, which I assume means that the fire is now on the other side of that road and sewer line.
