The salt mine shown in the episode of “Dirty Jobs” is the Carey Salt Company, located in Hutchinson, Kansas. An older part of the mine is used by third parties for off-site document-storage vaults, while another section is now a museum. Here are a couple of links with pictures:

RS&W / Steve Rothmel made it again on Dirty Jobs. This time on the 200 episode recap under the category of on camera surprises.

The scene where Mike Rowe sets off the rock shot was what was mentioned as being one of his biggest surprises.

I been around 5 pound black powder shots in full sized cannons. I've seen ANFO coal mine shots, but an U/G rock shot would have to be way up on the list.

I thought the episode wasn't that good. It just didn't show that much of the anty mine , when I watched it , I was totally ignorant of this type of mining(even more than I am now). Not to tick anyone off on here but, I wished they would show him in a really wet maybe even low bitty longwall mine, since it is" dirty jobs" in all.

Point Taken. It was a more detailed video than we are likely to see anytime soon, especially with MSHA watching. Unless our resident videographer can get equipment in a mine. And yes I'm sure most of us on this forum would have like to see an hours worth of mine video.

As to showing a wet , low mine of any type - sent in the suggestion. You might be a bit behind the ball since they have done one U/G mine but it wouldn't hurt.

No reruns are showing on the website.

I see that "Coal Miner" as an episode also re-ran earlier today too.
