Very nice, a lot of great updates to the site. I like some of those old photos too and the great postcard collection for Pine Ridge Mountain Mines.. Unfortunately we don't seem to be as lucky finding as many old postcards for many of the mines that we feature on the site. There seems to be far more post cards available for Coal Mines..

More interesting is the fact that of the many anthracite coal mine postcards that were printed, few identify the actual name of the mine, usually just the town. It is nice to be familiar with the Pine Ridge Mine and also be able to appreciate what it once looked like with mule pulled cars. Mules were also used in our mines but it is rare to find pictures of them.

Hey Chris,

I love the updates -- very thorough and well written explanation of mine locomotives (Miner Greg, want to do a write up on our hard rock mine locomotives? :D ). Nowhere on the web can you get this kind of information about coal mines. Chris, what do you think about adding linkable thumbnails to Mine Timbering Methods and Mine Car Theory beneath each section? I don't think I otherwise would have known the underlined headings were links. The links in the descriptions are obvious however.

Very nice.

Miner Mike

The Sterling Zinc Mine where I give tours, is 2550 feet deep (50 feet deeper than Middle Creek!) with 34-35 miles of tunnel. And the New Leonard Shaft of the Mount Hope Mine (http://www.ironminers.com/ironmines/mount-hope-mine-6.htm) is 2740 feet deep. Can you beat that?
