Once again, I am happy to announce the birth of a NEW mine slideshow. With a bit of determination and the avoidance of fast-moving trains, a small adit prospect was unearthed in an MTA railroad cut! I encourage you to explore the Washington Prospect...

Mike, so you found the little Washington Mine exploration adit. Nice job. I see the area has gotten your attention, or are the mines calling to you? You may have seen signs of our visit there. :)

Yes, it was just a matter of time before these mines got our undivided attention. I forgot to mention that Washington Prospect is really just a teaser for some new upcoming slideshows. ;) The area is an anthill of adits and tunnels! Have you found the mine with the partially intact hoist house yet?

Heehee, Were still working on the area as well, with plenty more coming. We've left a few bread crumbs for ya, good luck with a few of them. ;)

Hey, funny but I added a new lcd light to my arsenal of mine lighting equipment. It was left on the rock wall on the right side just past the prospecting work. I squeezed it, and it instantly lit up! Of course, if it was yours, I'll just give it to you next time we get together. We did notice recent hand prints along the ceiling of another adit.

Hee, from another adit. Interesting. A few of those adits are hidden well, you will need allot of luck to find them, a canine would help, hee hee hee.:)

Looking forward to seeing what you,ve found! Very cool.

There definitely is a "mine smell" common to mines in our area. I suppose it would be entirely possible to train Rover to sniff out adits. Maybe IronMiners will have to add a K9 division...

Nothing like a little friendly competion! I am sure you guys will find it as rewarding as we did, indeed that area is an anthill.
Just don't hit your heads on the "ABM was here" signs :)

Happy hunting and stay safe.

I will make sure to emboss my hard hat with an IM logo so that each time I bump my head, I'll leave our logo imprinted. This is fun, I am looking forward to the end result of our collective discoveries and research.

Yup, it certainly is all in fun.. We have a few surprises coming up and certainly have much more work to do. That area over there is full of mines, its just a matter of time until we find what we can find.

I take it that flash light wasn't yours?

Wasn't ours, A lot of those mines look like they get a lot of local visitors.

I misplaced a small black anodized luxeon 5 watt somewhere come to think of it. its glass was scratched up.. Is that what you found?

If it is please return to the AbandonedMines Lost and Found department. Northern NJ Office. lol

Jon, that would be Miner Kate, you met once at Mike's get together last year. Dan, no sorry the light I found is different. It is not a hand held light but will stick on to a helmet, literally. It looks like a hockey puck with lcd's on one side and adhesive tape on the other.
