We will be posting alot more on a few iron mines in northern Minnesota.
Myself & Ray M. went on a 5 day 3200 mile trip in mid September which covered so many aspects in mining all together. Coal in Kansas, Iron in Minnesota, the last mining headframe standing in N. Wisconsin, Copper mines in N. Michigan & Limestone quarries in N. Michigan. Lots of great pictures
It will take some time to transfer the pictures over so watch for the updates !
For now I posted a few shots at the former U.S. Steel deep iron mine located in northern Minnesota. The mine is almost 2,500 ft deep. The mine was very unique based upon the richness of the iron ore that was mined here. In fact still today the ore mined at other mines around the world is still compared to the iron that came from this mine as a reference standard.
