Great photos Mineman! I've been wanting to check out that area for a while and didn't expect so much to be intact. I have visited some of the older workings which include a capped shaft that is draining profusely and a couple other open shafts, one where the water level is about 40 feet below the surface. It is unfortunate that the headframe was torn down but to see these ruins makes up for it. Seeing the locker doors on the ground in that one slide gives a strong impression.

that area deffinatley needs to be checked out further, it almost reminds me of gladiator mine except with a shaft instead of an open adit next to the mine buildings! -CT Mike

Absolutely and thanks for sharing these shots with us. I have been wanting to document this area for a long time, however I was not under the impression until last weekend at a party I was invited to that the Washington Mine area was abandoned. I have done some 'arm chair' research on the area and even looked at the areal views, but I was under the impression that the area was developed with businesses and warehouses. I had no idea that the old mine buildings were left unoccupied and the area was still intact. I knew the mine was capped and the headframe was gone, but that was all I knew..

Who owns the property now? Is it at any risk of development?
