I think I remember reading that cut out a while back. It is certainly a very interesting article. The great thing about that article, excluding the unfortunate tragedy, is that it really gives you a good understanding how the mine was laid out and an idea on how it was worked. It's great articles like this still exist on some of these important historical operations.

Spammers are a fact of internet forum life, I am an admin on several forums and dealing with spam takes up way too much of my time, First time they ever used one of my own posts as spam. The mine is doing well, the water level is up thanks to who knows what, it can rise in dry years and be low in wet ones ( by a few feet either way, never more) Now that the bike path that cuts through the area is almost finished and fences are up we have had fewer problems.

It happens. It actually made for quite the humorous thread by the end!

How far down does the water level go during dry seasons at the Tily Forster mine? I am curious if any historic artifacts or remnants of the facility have shown when the water levels were historically low at the mine site.

The level of water in the mine will go up, or down a foot or two at most, after 26 years of watching it that is the most movement I have seen. There is no pattern to it, sometimes in dry times the water will be high, on wet ones it might drop to a low ( within that two foot zone) There never was any "facility" inside the mine, just the open pit workings, it was a giant hole . You have to drop down near 100 feet to even hit the first ledge that was cut into the wall of the mine. Past that I couldn't say.
