Hi all, I just found ou that the mine I used to work at was recently put into a stand down and maintanance posture after prices in Moly dropped subsatncially in November.
Here is the website: http://www.golden-phoenix.com/ashdown.htm

What a bummer, this mine was THE highgrade moly mine to beat all others, but such is life of the business I guess. Have a great week everybody!

What would be the dollar threshold on Moly to put the mine back on line
? Any idea?

That's really too bad about that... Looking on the website:

---

November 21, 2008

The Ashdown mine was placed on care-and-maintenance following the drop in worldwide demand for molybdenum oxide during the past 30 days. With prices for moly falling below $10 per pound, the Management Committee directed the mine and mill staff to immediately put into place a reduction in force as of last week. A member of the Committee has been on site to direct the operations, and equipment and supplies are being secured, supervisory agencies and vendors notified, and security measures inacted in order to maintain the infrastructure and await the outcome of future pricing moves. The mine remains on stand-by status, with permits in place.

---

So it looks like moly dropping below $10 a pound may have been what did this mine in. Perhaps after the recent recession, prices for moly could go back up. Being that the mine's permits are still in place and the mine is probably still being dewatered, the chance still remains of the mine opening back up.
