This past weekend, Miner CT Mike, Miner Marc and I arrived in the upper Shawangunks equipped with lumber, a bag of pre-nailed rungs, a hammer, and our standard mine apparatus. We intended to build a ladder to try to explore some of the upper drifts of the abandoned limestone mine that would otherwise be inaccessible to stubby mine researchers. While our proprietary ladder design was successful in adding extra height to peer into and access these drifts, no major discoveries were made in the drifts themselves. Instead, I present to you photos of the mission including other new discoveries.

Please see http://www.ironminers.com/mineforum/viewtopic.php?p=111262 for photos.

The ladder is still there for future probe drifting but I understand Mike might reuse the lumber for projects at his house.

Very nice job Mike! Yeah I remember doing projects like this in other mines... ;-) Pretty neat to see how this mine all connects together now. We had been wanted to see what was up there for a long time. Since finding the broken latter inside.

Its also interesting to see how the pitch of the mine becomes close to vertical. Quite a pitch change
